Richard Streetman was born in Greenville, South Carolina. He spent his early years growing up in a rural area of Greenville County. For high school he enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Program at the predominately African American Southside High School in the city. There he became active in community politics. He also was a star member of the debate and drama teams. As a freshman Richard, a Southern Baptist, was a founding member of the Southside High School Contemporary Gospel Choir. It was then that he began performing in front of large audiences on a regular basis. He has had the fortune to sing a song or two with Patti LaBelle, Shirley Caesar, Jennifer Holliday, Ce Ce Peniston and others. Politically, Richard served as an officer in the Greenville County Democratic Party beginning at the age of 17. He also became an organizer in the continuing movement to extend basic civil rights to all people. In 1998, Streetman moved to Chicago, Illinois to attend Depaul University. He currently works in Public Affairs/Relations and continues his involvement in public service and music. ![]() ![]() ![]() "The Apprentice" (left with red hat) ![]() ![]() ![]() A Perfect 10! ![]() episode 2 of "Gimme the Mike Chicago" ![]() These are are from a busy September and October fundraising season in Chicago politics: Sen.
